Privacy Policy for UpCheck

1. Introduction

UpCheck ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how UpCheck handles your information.

2. Information We Collect

Your personal information never leaves your device.

Everything you enter into UpCheck — names, pay rates, hours, PTO balances, shift notes — is stored only on your device. We cannot see it, we never receive it, and it is never uploaded to our servers or anyone else’s.

We do collect a small amount of anonymous information about how the app is used, so we can tell whether UpCheck is working and worth continuing to develop. This is limited to:

Anonymous usage statistics — which features are used and how often (see Section 6)
A count of app opens — a running daily total, with no identifier attached (see Section 6)
Star ratings you choose to submit — only if you tap a rating in the app, and only the star count plus your app version and platform
Your app version — sent when the app checks whether an update is available

None of this includes your name, email address, contacts, location, or any of the work data you track in the app.

3. Data Storage

All data in UpCheck is stored locally on your device using secure device storage (iOS Keychain/Android Keystore where applicable). This includes:

Person profiles (names, pay rates, PTO balances)
Time entries (dates, hours, shift notes)
App settings and preferences

The information listed above never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server. This is the data the app exists to manage, and it is not part of the anonymous statistics described in Section 6.

4. No Cloud Sync

UpCheck does not sync your data to any cloud service. If you delete the app or lose your device, your data cannot be recovered because it was never stored anywhere but on your device.

5. No Accounts Required

UpCheck does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in with any service.

6. Analytics

UpCheck contains no advertising and no ad tracking. We do not sell, share, or trade any information, and we do not build a profile of you or track you across other apps or websites.

We use two limited measurements:

Google Firebase Analytics records anonymous events such as the app being opened, a time entry being created, or a report being generated. These events carry only yes/no flags and category labels — for example, whether an entry included PTO hours, or which pay-period type is configured. They never include names, notes, pay rates, or hour totals. Firebase also records standard technical information such as device model, operating system version, and country.
An app-open counter on our own server. When the app checks for announcements, we add 1 to a daily total. We store only a date, the platform (iOS or Android), and a number. No identifier is recorded, so these counts cannot be linked to a device or to each other.

7. Internet Access

UpCheck’s core features work entirely offline — you can track time and generate reports with no connection at all. The app contacts the internet only to:

Check for announcements from the developer
Check whether a newer version is available
Send anonymous usage statistics (Section 6)
Submit a star rating, if you choose to give one
Send feedback email or share a report — both use your device’s own email or share sheet

As with any internet request, our server receives your device’s IP address in order to reply. We do not store it or record it in our usage counts.

8. Third-Party Services

UpCheck uses one third-party service: Google Firebase Analytics, for the anonymous usage statistics described in Section 6. Information collected by Firebase is handled under Google’s privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

UpCheck contains no advertising SDKs, no social-media SDKs, and no data brokers.

9. Children's Privacy

UpCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous statistics described in Section 6 are not tied to any individual and are not used to identify anyone.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date.
